$2,053 raised of $3,000 goal

Hi! We are the Computer Science Club, a club for HSU students who have an interest in computing and technology. We’re trying to raise $3000 for our 3rd annual LumberHacks Hackathon, a three-day event where students collaboratively code a technological project and present it to a panel of judges. Students gain hands-on, marketable experience in rapid prototyping, problem-solving, and looking for ways to have a positive impact on their community. The Hackathon also directly benefits community members– organizations such as Humboldt Animal Rescue Team, Redwood Community Action Agency, and HSU’s own Information Technology Services have attended the Hackathon as community members, and come away from the Hackathon with prototypes built just for them.

Students said the following about our 2019 Hackathon:

“The Hackathon was super fun and a great experience. I really appreciate the addition of technical advisors… It helps students get their foot in the door and open up opportunities for them.”

“I felt like everyone was at the Hackathon purely to have fun, learn something, and support each other. I’ve never felt closer to my peers, and being able to focus purely on coding for an entire weekend reminded me why I want to go into computer science as a career.”

“This event is the best thing that the school does.”

It only takes 30 people donating $100 each to fund this entire event. Or 100 people donating $30. Or 300 donating $10. Every single donation is a significant contribution to this event and is greatly appreciated. Click here to make your gift today!
